چکیده

We give a calculation of Picard groups Pic2 of K(2)-local invertible spectra and Pic(L2) of E(2)-local invertible spectra, both at the prime 3. The main contribution of this paper is to calculation the subgroup κ2 of invertible spectra X with (E2)∗X ∼= (E2)∗S as continuous modules over the Morava stabilizer group G2.

A ug 2 00 5 A modular description of the K ( 2 ) - local sphere at the prime 3

Using degree N isogenies of elliptic curves, we produce a spectrum Q(N). This spectrum is built out of spectra related to tmf . At p = 3 we show that the K(2)local sphere is built out of Q(2) and its K(2)-local Spanier-Whitehead dual. This gives a conceptual reinterpretation a resolution of Goerss, Henn, Mahowald, and Rezk. AMS classification: Primary 55Q40, 55Q51, 55N34. Secondary 55S05, 14H52.

On the construction of permutation complexes for profinite groups

In [5], Goerss, Henn, Mahowald and Rezk consider the special extended Morava stabilizer group G2 = S2 o Gal at the prime 3 and construct an exact sequence of compact modules 0→ Ind 1 2 G24 Ẑ3 → Ind G2 SD16 Ẑ3(χ)→ Ind G2 SD16 Ẑ3(χ)→ Ind G2 G24 Ẑ3 → Ẑ3 → 0, where G24 is a subgroup of order 24 etc, and Ẑ3(χ) is a copy of Ẑ3 on which SD16 acts via a character χ : SD16 → {±1}. They then use this to ...

A resolution of the K ( 2 ) - local sphere at the prime 3

We develop a framework for displaying the stable homotopy theory of the sphere, at least after localization at the second Morava K-theory K(2). At the prime 3, we write the spectrum LK(2)S as the inverse limit of a tower of fibrations with four layers. The successive fibers are of the form EhF 2 where F is a finite subgroup of the Morava stabilizer group and E2 is the second Morava or Lubin-Tat...

BROWN-COMENETZ DUALITY AND THE ADAMS SPECTRAL SEQUENCE By MARK MAHOWALD and CHARLES REZK

We show that the class of p-complete connective spectra with finitely presented cohomology over the Steenrod algebra admits a duality theory related to Brown-Comenetz duality. This construction also produces a full-plane version of the classical Adams spectral sequence for such spectra, which converges to the homotopy groups of a “finite” localization.
